The Global Network of Black People working in HIV (GNBPH) is pleased to announce three recent program developments.

AIDS 2016 Satellite Session Online…

Moving for Silos to Solidarity, GNBPH’s AIDS 2016 breakfast satellite session held Thursday July 21, 2016 in Durban, South African is available online. The historic satellite session brought together Black Africans and African Americans to discuss work that still needs to be done to reduce the burden of HIV/AIDS on people of Africa and the Diaspora. The discussion gave particular attention to the importance of the African Diaspora coming together as a global community with working knowledge of the latest science, tools, technologies, and best practices at this time in the HIV pandemic.

 

ICASA 2017 International Steering Committee Membership…

GNBPH has been selected to serve as a member of the International Steering Committee (ISC) for the 2017 International Conference on AIDS and STI in Africa (ICASA 2017) to be held in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire, December 4-9, 2017. In this role, GNBPH will help to determine the conference theme and objectives, review and revise abstract categories, and identify best strategies for resource and community mobilization. Dr. Ron Simmons, Dr. Saidi Mpendu and Dr. Marsha Martin are the delegate members to the ISC.

UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board Delegation…

GNBPH has been nominated to serve on the NGO Delegation to the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board (PCB). The NGO delegation represents civil society on the PCB, the governing body of UNAIDS. There are ten NGO delegates, two from each of the five global regions: Africa, Asia, North America, South America and Europe. Dr. Marsha Martin will serve as one of two North American delegates to the PCB beginning in January 2017.
